Peach Leaf Curl

Written by Jungle Jim

This is the time we are getting people coming in because of Peach Leaf Curl. this causes a bubbling of the foliage on Peaches and Nectarines. Unfortunately the only thing you can do this time of year is remove the damaged foliage if practical and fertilize.

The removal helps prevent the spread to new growth. The fertilizing helps the tree recover form the damage. A good sized application of Masters Fruit Tree and Vine Food applied three times this spring can really help.

Other diseases on fruit trees include Shot Hole Fungus. This causes dead spots to appear on the foliage and then they fall out making the leaves look tattered. Again, fertilizer is the answer this time of the year.

As an aside, if you think you have curly leaf on Plums, Apples, Apricots or Pears it is usually aphid damage. Bring in a sample and let us identify the problem.
