2011Order Now: Bare Root Roses and Fruit Trees
Written by Amy Lomeli
Our 2011-2012 Bare Root Rose and Fruit Tree order forms are now available!
We have specialized in roses for over 60 years, and continue to offer a wide selection of both classics and new varieties. There are a few noteworthy new varieties that Jim has mentioned in his Jungle Jim Sez... article in our newsletter this month, including the much anticipated Lemonade and Pink Lemonade Eyeconic roses. Bare root roses come in January, weather permitting. Order early, as some are in limited supply!
Thinking of putting in a new backyard orchard or another variety of fruit tree? Now's the time to place your bare root fruit tree orders. If you missed our Dave Wilson Fruit Tasting in July, you can still sample many of the varieties available on our list at fruit stands and local farmer's markets. Many of our team have their own recommendations and testimonials on variety selection as well. Remember that you don't have to have acreage to have a backyard orchard or fruit hedge. We've got guides and winter seminars with loads of info on making fruit trees work in your backyard, as well as experienced staff that know how to find answers to your questions. Want to see examples of backyard and small space orchards? Check out Dave Wilson's YouTube channel, Fruit Tube. We've linked a few of their videos to our site under the Videos tab on the left navigation bar.
Although we try to offer a good selection for our customers based on (of course) taste and disease resistance, If you're dying to have a variety we don't regularly carry or for a special circumstance, Dave Wilson's Special Order Fruit Tree (SOFT) list is also available in-store. Dave Wilson offers a tremendous selection of fruit tree options in addition to the ones we regularly carry. SOFT orders must be placed by November 12, earlier than our regular fruit tree order. All fruit tree orders should be ready for pick up around the first week of January, weather permitting.
You can find links to the Rose and Fruit Tree PDF copies in the navigation bar at left. Although we don't ship bare root, you can still order over the phone (523-7978) for January pick up. And if you'd like to have a new rose garden or backyard orchard but don't know where to start, our Garden Crew can do the dirty work for you (523-2847). Don't forget that all rose and fruit tree orders placed before November 30 (except SOFT, due by November 12) receive a 10% discount-on top of the low bare root prices!
